Stray dogs and cats that are impounded are held for 5 business days unless an owner comes forward. In that case, all impound fees must be paid at the Northfield Police Department (507-645-4477) during regular business hours (M-F, 8:00 – 5:00) before an animal can be released from impound. Proof of current rabies vaccination is also required before an animal can be released.
